Ten Hag for life? A big hit candidate appears!…Manchester United’s successor comes to mind →’UCL runner-up’ masterpiece is mentioned
Erik ten-Hach is still Manchester United manager, but candidates are still pouring in to replace him.
British media The Sun reported on the 13th (Korea time) that former Dortmund coach Edin Terzic has also been named in the list of candidates for the next coach to replace Manchester United’s Ten Hach.
The media said, “It is a shocking name that Terzic has been nominated for Manchester United’s successor to replace Ten Hach. Terzic led the team to the UEFA Champions League final before resigning suddenly after the end of the 2023-2024 season,” adding, “He has a lot of fans at Manchester United and if Ten Hach is replaced, Manchester United will take a smart and unexpected move.”
According to media, Terzic trained as a coach in England and his motive is Graham Potter, who is also a candidate for recruitment of Manchester United. The two worked as coaches at West Ham, where Slavan Wilic was.
Terzic’s playing career was only in Germany. He retired from the Borussia Droschuder team in 2013 after playing for lower league teams.
Prior to that, terzic began his career as a Dortmund first team scout in 2010 and simultaneously began his career as a head coach for the U19 team. After serving as head coach for Team B and head coach for Team U17, he then joined the slavan bilich division in the summer of 2013 and served as the head coach for Besiktash (Turkiye).
Then in the summer of 2015, Terzic worked as West Ham’s head coach for about two years with the Wielic division. After only one more game after Wielic was replaced, he returned to Dortmund in the summer of 2018 to join the Lucien Favre division and work as the head coach.
Terzic graduated from the FA leadership course in 2018 and is also a motivator with Nikki Burt and Nemanja Vidic.
With Favre replaced in December 2020 due to poor performance, Terzic began his first professional team coaching career as an interim coach at the age of 37. After three matches, he took over as a full-time coach, winning the quarterfinals of the 2020-2021 Champions League, the third place in the Bundesliga, and the German Football Federation (DFB) Pokal to hand him the trophy.
Terzic, who retired as technical director next season and watched the 2021-2022 season, led the team until last season, taking the helm of Dortmund again in the 2022-2023 season.
Despite poor performance in the league last season, the team advanced to the final by defeating PSV Eindhoven (the Netherlands), Atletico Madrid (Spain), and PSG (France) in the Champions League. It is the first time in 11 years that the team has advanced to the finals since advancing to the finals of the Champions League in the 2012-2013 season, and the first time in 27 years since the 1996-1997 season. The team lost to Real Madrid (Spain) 0-2 in the finals.
Terzic has since stepped down from Dortmund and is taking a break. He also attended an ECA panel meeting hosted by the European Club Union (ECA) in Athens, Greece on the 12th.
Manchester United are currently watching Ten Hag’s future.
Manchester United drew 0-0 without scoring in the seventh round of the 2024-2025 Premier League away game against Aston Villa at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, on the 6th before the A-match break in October.
Manchester United, which has been mired in a winless streak of four official matches (three draws and one loss), has extended its winless record to five matches by tying at an away match in Villa. In the opening seven matches of the league, Manchester United ranked 14th (two wins, two draws and three losses) with only eight points.
Ten Hach had only eight points in seven games this season, Manchester United’s worst start to the Premier League history. Last season, he had only nine points in seven games and had his worst start to the season at the time, but he broke this record in just one season.
Eight points in seven league games are the worst ever since Alex Ferguson’s performance in the 1989-1990 season when he was under intense pressure to step down before winning the FA Cup.
In addition, Manchester United had only five goals in seven matches, which is its worst scoring capacity since the 1972-1973 season. Currently, Manchester United has no goals in three recent games, and no one has scored more than one goal.
Everything is coming out as the worst indicator of all time, but Manchester United’s boardjin does not seem to consider Ten Hag’s future.
Manchester United’s board meeting, which took place at Ineos headquarters in London on the 9th, lasted about seven hours, but Ten Hag’s future did not change.
British Sky Sports said at the time, “Manchester United’s view of what happened today is that this was a routine meeting. The meeting was held in London, England, where Ineos headquarters is responsible for all football operations for Manchester United.”
“A lot of the media were very interested in today’s meeting about Ten Hach’s future. However, according to all the information gathered by this paper, this meeting was a routine meeting. With the exception of Ten Hach, agendas related to Old Trafford redevelopment, commercial and sponsorship and accounting were discussed,” he added.
The media also said, “The meeting lasted a long time. It began on the morning of the 8th when co-owner Jim Ratcliffe arrived with Ineos director Dave Brailsford. Sports director Dan Ashworth, CEO Omar Verrada, Ineos director Jean-Claude Blanc, co-owner Joel Glazer and technical director Jason Wilcox participated in the meeting.”
